Day 18 was a deep dive into the world of water conservation, starting with a tour and interaction with a climate action organization focusing first on their conservation efforts at Sihineerukere Lake in Devanahalli. Here, students explored the Living Lab, engaging in water testing activities to understand the importance of maintaining clean water bodies. They learned about the various methods used to monitor and improve water quality, gaining insights into how local communities can contribute to the health of their natural resources. This hands-on experience highlighted the critical role of conservation in sustaining ecosystems and ensuring water security for future generations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The exploration continued at the College Well in Hunsmaranahalli and Sonnappanahalli School. At these sites, the students discovered innovative ways of conserving water in educational institutions, understanding how sustainable practices can be integrated into everyday life. They observed the practical applications of rainwater harvesting and the maintenance of traditional wells, which are crucial for water conservation in rural areas.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The afternoon was dedicated to a heritage conservation walk, led by a conservationist from a preservation organization. The journey began at the Government Museum, where students witnessed ongoing restoration works, learning about the meticulous processes involved in preserving historical buildings and also had the fun opportunity of partaking in the preservation process, making it a more hands-on experience for all! The walk continued to the State Central Library and the High Court building, learning about Benguluru’s challenges and rewards of maintaining architectural legacies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The day concluded on a bittersweet note, with students enjoying a final night of sweet treats, shopping, and strolling through the vibrant streets of Bengaluru, cherishing the lifelong memories created during their journey.
