Day 4 of the #360Plus adventure took the students to Agra, beginning with an early morning visit to the iconic Taj Mahal. The students were mesmerized by the monument’s beauty and learned about the extensive conservation efforts to protect it from the impacts of climate change over the years. One of the students observed, “I learned the story behind this monument and what makes it so special. I’ve never imagined that it was built in a symmetrical way with an optical illusion to make it seem that all the words written on the wall have the same size.” This revelation added a deeper appreciation of the architectural marvel and its intricate design.
Following the Taj Mahal, the cohort learnt about the Agra Fort, delving into its rich history and cultural significance. The students engaged in group discussions about heritage conservation techniques being implemented in their home countries, creating a shared learning experience and broadening their perspectives on global preservation efforts. These conversations emphasized the importance of maintaining historical sites for future generations, connecting the day’s experiences with a broader context of cultural heritage.
On their journey back, the students visited Sheroes Hangout, a café run by acid attack survivors. Here, they listened to powerful stories of resilience and courage, gaining inspiration from the survivors’ strength and determination.
The day concluded with a reflection session, where students shared their insights and challenges, preparing themselves for the next leg of their journey. The experiences of Day 4 not only enriched their understanding of heritage conservation but also highlighted the human spirit’s resilience and the importance of supporting each other’s journeys.
