Climate change became real for him when Hurricane Helene struck his community, leaving his family without power and water for weeks—a reminder that global issues often have personal consequences. On the trip, he carried this awareness with him, combining curiosity with grounded resilience, and using his expressive style of storytelling to make others see and feel his perspective.
