One person I may never forget

Out of all the people I’ve met in Indai I think she stood out to me the most. While we we’re in Madurai we had an assignment to make a video on the Vaigai River. While my group and I were walking around I met this women. She lives right across the street from the river. We interviewed her and she told us about her life. She never originally came from Madurai. She moved there once her father and husband past away. She’s a widow. She also has 3 kids one which is disabled and can’t walk. She was telling us about how she makes a living by garbage picking and recycling plastic water bottles and taking them to some place and she gets money in return. This is how she makes a living and provides for her family. After we finished interviewing her she just waited for us to leave. Unlike the others she did not ask for money after she was finished being interviewed. She doesn’t go around begging for money like most people that I seen. She goes and trys to make a living and isn’t relying on other. I gave her 1000 rupies and are translator asked how much did I give her? And After I told him, he then asked if I seen the smile on her face? And I said no and he explained that the most that someone would donate or give away is 10 rupies. I wish I would of turned to see that smile but I’m glad that I gave her that money. The next day we drove passed and I seen her outside eating with her children I couldn’t have been any happier.
