Building Islands of Inclusiveness

Over the past week, the Leadership Collective learners have been engaged with site visits and workshops around the city of Ahmedabad organized by 360Plus partner, Sauhard. These site visits are meant to expand the learners understanding of issues facing youth in India and grow their own youth citizenship toolkit.

A session on inclusiveness and safe space was conducted on behalf of Sauhard by Hirva, Lalit and Janki wherein the aim was that an individual would have an understanding of the values of inclusiveness and safe space as well as mediums of creating the same.

To get a practical knowledge of creating a safe space, the participants were divided into groups. Each group was assigned an Island wherein they had to form their own rules based on values they wanted to practice.

In this process 6 – 7 individuals came together and conveyed what values they believe in and collectively designed a safe space for themselves. Different features of island were witnessed like their own poems, songs, anthem, map, symbols along with the rules and laws. Below are examples of four of these islands created by 360Plus students.
