A New Form of Knowledge

So yesterday, we had a session on youth inclusiveness. We did many activities and played many games which all had a deeper meaning. Sitting down after the fun, I really began to think about the purpose. One of the common denominators was that we, the youth, took problems into our own hands and made our own choices. It was definitely different, but I felt included, which was really the whole point of the session. We had our session at a lovely place with beautiful plants and greenery.

Today, we went a little deeper into worldwide problems. We had our session at an amazing place where everything was recycled, reused, and refurbished. It was a really cool environment, especially for the topic we discussed, which was eco-conservation. We watched a film called “Before the Flood”, which was a piece that exposed the realities of climate change as well as where us humans would be as a planet if we continue the destructive path we are on. I had no idea all of these problems existed & were so evident. I felt scared & worried, but also a new initiative to make a change & do my part to help. We did an activity where we explored the issues with the environment in our own community & we came up with potential solutions. I feel this activity really engaged me into the act of helping my community in ways that could possibly spread to other communities around me.

We also learned some sewing techniques which was really cool because I had absolutely no idea how to sew & now I can bring that knowledge back home. Overall, within the past two days, I have felt as if a new way of thinking has been discovered. I feel more knowledgeable as well as more confidence & determination to spread my education than I have in the past. I am extremely excited to see what other understandings I can gain & spread throughout my community. Tomorrow I will have the opportunity to expand my familiarity dealing with mental health which I am most excited for. I cannot wait to add more grasp onto the endless amounts of enlightenment I have already gained.
